I cannot say enough about the service of 1st Rate Movers. It was a pleasure dealing with the owner Matt Guest + his crew. They were right on time for the loading + unloading was completed professionally + efficiently. There were a few obstacles to overcome such as hoisting my couch up to a 2nd floor balcony and they did this with skill + no complaint. Moving can be stressful + 1st Rate Movers took all that stress away. I will highly recommend 1st Rate Movers to all my friends + people who aren’t my friends as well! |

We came across 1st Rate completely by chance; I had called another company in the yellow pages that were unable to fit in my move date, and when I asked for a referral to another mover, I was directed to Matt. It speaks highly when your peers recommend you, and 1st Rate did not disappoint! We hired them to help load our stuff onto a self-pack container that we were being charged for by the foot. Not only did Matt go out of his way to make sure that all of our belongings were packed with the utmost consideration for the long cross country journey ahead, but he made maximum utilization of every inch of space, and ended up using 216 square feet less than we had been quoted for. Lets just say the space they saved us more than paid for the movers, which I thought were most reasonably priced. The guys were prompt, efficient, and did their work with a wonderful sense of urgency; always a great thing when you're paying by the hour :) The final testament to their good work was when our stuff got to Calgary, and not only was NOTHING damaged, but the movers we had hired on this end complimented the excellent packing job. Like I said, when you have peers in your field complimenting you, you know you're doing something right! I would strongly recommend 1st rate to anyone that is looking for a mover in Ottawa and serviced areas; they should be the 1st choice in movers! |

We chose 1st Rate movers not knowing much about them, but it turned out to be a good choice. We agreed to go with the hourly rate thinking that this way our belongings will be moved safely although it may cost us more. In fact we were wrong about the second part. Matt's team made use of every second and wasted no time and yes everything was moved safely. A very fair business, I wish other businesses that we have daily contact with were also as fair. |

My wife & I, wish to sincerely thank you for turning around our most horrific day. It was June 30th, 2006 when the moving company originally scheduled to move us, NEVER showed up. We were hopelessly trying to find a moving company that would be willing to move us on such short notice. With no success after countless phone calls, and now with the new occupants arriving at our door, the situation was hopeless until around 7:30pm when your crew showed up at our door and saved the day! Your crew had been working since 8am that day and were on their 3rd move of the day (and I'm sure they were quite exhausted by then). But still managed to be fully productive, very pleasant and professional. They worked efficiently until around midnight when they completed the move. I used 1st Rate for my move in July and I was really impressed. They were a bit late arriving but once they got there, I was out of my old place (which had 4 flights of stairs) and into the new place in just over 3 hours. They wrapped most furniture in plastic, and even took all the used plastic away when they were done. They were friendly, professional, conscientious and I felt completely comfortable with them. Great value for the money! I'll definitely use them again and I'd recommend them to anyone. |
